How do I get an estimate?
It is very difficult to give an estimate over the phone; however, it is possible to begin the process. An email including a thorough description and good quality photographs can provide a good starting point. Once the item is on site, a formal condition report and estimate will be provided free of charge. Photographs alone do not reveal all the information necessary to understand the condition of the artwork. The item will need to be further examined at our facilities for a proper estimate or appraisal.
How long does a project take?
Depending on the size and scope of each individual project we typically project a 30-60 days’ turnaround time once we receive approval to being work.
How do we proceed to treatment?
Once you have received a treatment plan with cost estimate all that is necessary is a signed approval and minimum deposit of 50% of the total cost to begin the work.
Is my artwork insured?
Yes, APS is fully insured. Every work in our possession is covered for up to $50,000.00. Addition coverage is available on a case by case basis.
What is my artwork worth?
Before any restoration project is started its important to know the approximate value of the work. The monetary value does not affect the restoration but can help provide a direction for treatment. We do provide full appraisal services for insurance, fair market value, and donation. The process can involve advanced research. Please contact APS to discuss the fee structure.
Do you purchase artwork?
We do not purchase artwork directly. APS offers services assisting clients on where and when to best sell their works, including acting as an agent to several major auction houses.
Do you work off-site / make house-calls?
Depending on the location and conditions of the premises APS can offer on-site services. Our team will make the best recommendation on how to proceed with the restoration.
I work for an insurance or restoration company and my client has had a disaster. Can Art Preservation Services come on-site and assist with the stabilization and removal of the art?
